Thoresby Hall - Life Magazine

Just down the road from Rufford Abbey is another site teeming with unusual activity.

Northern Ghost has been investigating Thoresby Hall Hotel for the last seven years.

The ghosts of children have reportedly been seen in the garden and

games room, servants wander rooms and a black figure, believed to be

Lady Manvers, has been spotted staring into the great hall from the

gallery, possibly making sure guests do not take her treasures.

But perhaps the most active suite in the hotel is Room 710 where some

guests have been so scared by unexpected visitors that they have fled

during the night.

Mediums have also sensed high levels of spiritual activity in and

around the room, but investigators have only heard unexplained

footsteps pacing the room and doors banging.

In other parts of the building, including the games room and Blue

Restaurant, members have been spooked by the sound of something running

up behind them, ghostly transmissions over the radio, the roulette

wheel moving of its own accord and objects apparently being thrown

across the room.

With such activity being recorded at Rufford and Thorseby, Northern

Ghost hopes to continue investigating both sites for the foreseeable

future, carefully gathering evidence in their quest to prove — or not —

the existence of ghosts.

Northern Ghost will reveal more about their findings at Rufford at a

Ghost tour during December.

The team will describe their experiences during a presentation and then lead

the public on a guided walk of the site.

The team is also taking part in a paranormal weekend at Thoresby Hall,

starting on October 26.
