Clifford Tower

York Castle is a fortified complex comprising, over the last nine centuries, a sequence of castles, prisons, law courts and other buildings on the south side of the River Foss. The now-ruinous keep of the medieval Norman castle is commonly referred to as Clifford's Tower.

NGRIT-UK investigated this historic castle with English Heritage and Minster FM as part of the radio station’s Halloween coverage in 2002. During the course of the night we experienced batteries being drained, including all the data loggers, tape recorders and video cameras and fluctuating levels of EMF on the K2 meters, often seemingly in response to questions. Flashes of light and shadows were regularly seen, a small stone was thrown at an observer and an NGRIT-UK member reported being pushed in the chest.
