Guide to the DVR

The team have a DVR system available in their list of equipment for onsite investigations. DVR is Digital Video Recorder which is commonly used in CCTV systems.

The equipment allows the team to dramatically increase the number of cameras used onsite.

All these cameras now record direct to hard disk drive on the computer used to drive the system.

The cameras are left in various locations around the site and are connected to the main DVR system by shielded hard line cables or wireless transmission.

Wireless is mainly used when cable runs are either too long or inappropriate for health and safety reasons.

The images are sent to a PC housing the DVR system and can be monitored via the PC display.

Audio can also be recorded from locations providing the cameras are equipped with microphones.

Options can be set for motion detection recording where the system will only start writing to disk in the event of a change to a basic background image, or full round the clock recording.

Mini DV and Hard disk camcorders will still be used by the team so, although we should greatly reduce the amount of tapes used on a vigil, we will still be spending a certain amount of time post investigation on looking through the DV tapes.

The Mini DV Sony camcorders and Hard disk camcorders are compatible with the new system though and if needed we can also use the wireless link to record images to the DVR direct from the mobile camera as the investigator is walking around the site!

The DVR will benefit the team as all the video files will be stored in one central location, the possibility of multiple stationary cameras will also greatly increase the chances of capturing paranormal activity.

Investigators can also keep an eye on proceedings by monitoring the DVR while having a break!!

This is a huge step forward for Ngrit-UK and the way they use video technology in the hope to capture paranormal activity.
