Ngrit-uk was founded in 2003 by Patrick James Firth and his wife Keren, after several years studying & researching paranormal / ghosts & hauntings!
Patrick’s background is archaeology- based and it was his time in this field which fuelled his fascination with the past and more importantly the once great castles and abbeys of our country. Patrick found that every historical site he visited had it’s own ghost stories to tell and more often than not there would be a custodian ready and eager to disclose the history and ghostly secrets of their sites. These “ghost” stories led Pat to look into the backgrounds of the sites eventually leading to a quest to find out if any truth could be gathered from the tales.
It soon became clear that there was more to the stories than just old “wives tales” and as the list of sites needing to be visited grew, Patrick formed Ngrit-uk so like minded people could pool their skills and provide a professional service to investigate sightings and reports of paranormal activity not only at English Heritage sites, but also many others that were intrigued by what Ngrit-uk had to offer.
As these vigils continued, it soon became apparent that the archaeology was being left behind and the search for evidence of paranormal activity was becoming more important and most of all, the quest to provide scientific evidence of any findings.
The group is formed from individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs. Ngrit is aided by Patrick’s wife Keren Firth, a graduate of medical science at the University of Sheffield.
Equipment & technical specialist Robert Young & Darren Ransford have brought the team forward in technology aimed at detecting paranormal activity. Technology including Infrared stills, video cameras, Electromagnetic Field Detectors (EMF), Negative Ion Detectors (NID) and Environmental meters have all contributed to the group gaining vital data and results. Darren also controls the recording of vigils using several state of the art digital night-vision video cameras.
The group is also assisted by long serving member Sharon Hodkin & more recently Neil Smith Alex Pease-Gadsby & David Rawlin has joined the team. Alex, Neil & David came onboard after a long held fascination in the subject of "paranormal phenomenon". Sharon helps Ngrit-uk using her skills as an in-depth scientific researcher and evp analyst. Neil's main focus is constructing new equipment or the team to use on site. David is a spirit medium and helps the team with his mediumistic abilities. Alex is our new site analyst.
Joe Summerhill, came on board to assists with Ngrit-uk on-site experiments as well as assisting Keren with the baseline and environmental checks at each site visited.
Ngrit-uk has investigated many sites over the years, both historical & modern, and is proud of it's reputation as one of the most respected and established paranormal groups in the United Kingdom. As the team’s reputation grows, so does the area of the country that the team cover. From it’s early roots primarily based in Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire, the group are now invited to visit locations in Norfolk, Birmingham, Nottingham, Stafford, Derbyshire and as far afield as Ireland
Ngrit-uk has investigated and helped many separate sites since its early beginnings in 1996. Although the group have several long term projects, it still intends to look at possible new areas.
